Patrick Van
Patrick Van attended the University of California, Riverside on the pre-med track and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience. He went on to attend Western State College of Law where he graduated with honors. While in law school, Patrick clerked at the West Justice Center, was Lead Articles Editor on Law Review, was a Dean’s Circle Member, and received several Witkin Awards. Patrick credits his academic successes to his extraordinary work ethic. Because of this combination of medical understanding and devotion to the work, Patrick is a most valued player on our team and an essential asset to his clients.
Patrick is one of very few attorneys who has a comprehensive legal understanding and the knowledge for the medical issues incumbent to Workers’ Compensation cases. This depth of familiarity has allowed him to quickly and successfully navigate through the many medical issues throughout a claim. When deposing physicians, Patrick’s persistent and effective techniques have helped him change physician’s views and significantly reduce exposure, which has had a direct impact on our client’s claims and their overall cost savings.
Patrick’s unmatched negotiation skills and relationships with applicant's attorneys have consistently led him to obtain preemptive settlements for clients looking for early exit strategies on their claims. Additionally, as a seasoned, aggressive litigator who specializes in high exposure claims, Patrick is often requested by our clients to handle their complex claims.
Patrick is an experienced trial attorney and has successfully argued an array of matters before judges at the WCABs throughout Southern California. Patrick's experience at Park|Guenthart has allowed him to assist and train associates firm wide in addition to conducting educational seminars for industry professionals.
